Do You Really Have Competition?

Barbara Rose

“Nothing on the outside will ever make you feel whole and complete. You never need the validation of another person to feel worthy. The only validation you will ever need about your worth as a spiritual human being is your own. “   –Barbara Rose

I had to write this article after so many years of watching people both fear and cringe from the thought of competition.

This “competition” can be in the form of another person, business, colleague, you name it, and I would venture to say that you have seen people get really upset at even the idea of having “competition.”

I’ve watched a “one up-man ship” even within the spiritual genre, and it saddens me to see so many people afraid of the light of others. So this article will hopefully clear this up for either you or someone you many know that is upset over “competition.”

Here is the FACT: There is NO competition with you, period. No one else on this planet can be you, or do what you came here to do. No one else can be all that you are, and the very fear of any type of competition literally pulls YOU down, not the other.

I grew up with a family in the restaurant business. Oh my god, when another restaurant opened up down the street, panic ensued. I would sit there and watch the pandemonium and think to myself, “My family has one of the greatest restaurants in the city, WHY are they so afraid of another restaurant? Don’t they realize that if they turn all of the terror into passion to be the best that they are, there is nothing to fear at all?”

I’ve watched women in morbid fear of another beautiful woman entering the neighborhood, so afraid that their husband would be “stolen.” I’ve seen the same behavior with men, as well. I’ve watched companies of all kinds refuse to work in harmony with their “competition” out of sheer fear of loss, and nothing else.

Let me share something that is extremely important: When you realize all that YOU are, and love every part of yourself, your life, and all you are doing you will NEVER fear competition, because quite frankly, it is all in the mind, and nowhere else!

We live in an extremely “competitive” world. Most of humanity has been taught to fear, rather than BE, and be quite good enough simply by being their best.

Many of you may know that Mr. R.H. Macy of Macy’s department store in New York City was the FIRST person that instructed his employees to refer his customers to another store that carried merchandise that they were looking for, but that he did not carry. The look on the customer’s faces was one of sheer shock! That made Mr. Macy quite successful. He knew that Bloomingdales was nearby, so was Lord and Taylor, and he STILL did his best, and had zero fear of competition.

I have seen authors that were not allowed to place links of other authors on their own websites! Personally, I don’t just read one magazine I read tons of magazines. The same with books. And I am quite happy to share them all with anyone I know that is looking for a great read.

Whenever we compare ourselves to “the competition” we somehow wind up on the lower side of the comparison. Or, sometimes people actually gloat at how terrible their “competition” is doing. This arises strictly out of the ego’s domain of fear, or false pride, and nowhere else.

The soul, on the other hand, knows no fear, false pride or boundaries. If you are afraid of “competition” than there is an area within Self that must be healed and restored into the vibrant and radiant person that you truly are deep within. As this heals, you feel more confidence, joy and even pleasure of having so many people near your life that you may have previously viewed as competition.

You have one Light. You have a Divine purpose. There is no other being alive that matches your identical purpose and being. It is as unique as your own fingerprint.

Try to view all souls in this manner. All people want to feel they are the best. The truth is that all people ARE – once they themselves believe this, then fear of competition on any and every level of life will cease permanently, and glowing confidence and Divine cooperation and harmony will gloriously take its place.
