Discover A Gold Mine Of Good Health

by Dr. Susan Mendelsohn

"We have been conditioned to see things as they are rather than how they could be."

I’ll bet you have some unrecognized potentials that you haven’t yet begun to uncover. Right? Well, it’s time to unleash those abilities you posses and really make them work for you. It is my belief that we were all born with extraordinary gifts that we must discover to help us lead a more fulfilling and healthy life. I believe that we are blessed with the ability to dream, to imagine, to conceptualize, to visualize and to create. Our intuition enables us to see patterns and make connections, empowering us to cope with difficulties both rationally and intelligently.

Many of us have consistently defeated ourselves when it comes to weight management or anything else we attempt to manage in our daily lives. So many times we ask “how” instead of “why.” We have been conditioned to see things as they are rather than how they could be. This is because we all grew up in a “left-brained” society. Our “left brain” is the rational side of us, the side that only looks at facts. However, it is our “right brain” that will show us the possibilities and allow us to follow our inborn instincts.

Many of us know “how” to lose weight or “how” to do many things. However, we never seem to get past the intellectual side. Why not ask yourself “why” you want to lose weight. Your answers to this question may vary from wanting to be healthy for clothes to fit more comfortably, to gain more energy, to reduce fat tissue, to enhance metabolism, to increase muscle mass, to feel better, to feel in control, and so on.

When you realize why you want to lose weight, it is then that you will be able to uncover your ravenous supply of underlying potentials you already posses in order to achieve those goals. Your reasons for losing weight will help you uncover your options toward achieving those goals.

Further, it is time to ask “what if” and “why not” on a regular basis. Use your imagination to help you mine for those diamonds in the rough that will shine so brightly once you find them. Imagine yourself healthier, slimmer, and happier rather than a failure.

Most of us must move a lot of earth in order to stumble across our diamonds. Start moving your earth by exercising your creativity so you can see yourself as you “could” be rather than how you currently “are.”

When you locate those diamonds, hold onto them tightly and begin polishing them. Nurture them with all your heart and make them shine for you. We are all diamonds in the rough -- so, let’s find the jewel below the surface!
